PT-Reaper Converter release notes
v1.7.0 Major
Jun 5, 2026 · Download DMG
- Reaper sessions whose audio lives in several different folders, or across different drives (a shared sound library on another drive, a separate rendered or bounced folder, your project media), now relink correctly in Pro Tools. Every file is found by its real path. Files that are offline at conversion time keep their paths too, and any file you relink yourself — on any drive — is written into the converted session.
- Markers now come through with their names and colours, both when converting a session with the app and when importing through the Reaper extension.
- A Reaper master track now becomes a Pro Tools master routing folder, including stereo masters.
- Added a Copy File Name button to the Relink dialog.
v1.6.9 Performance
May 28, 2026 · Download DMG
- Significantly faster conversion on large sessions.
- Pro Tools auto-links Sound Devices and Reaper-rendered WAVs by ID. The converter now preserves the full SMPTE UMID byte-for-byte so PT recognises files from any field recorder vendor.
- Offline RPP → PTX conversions now link by filename automatically. When you convert an RPP without the audio on disk, Pro Tools auto-links files from the Audio Files folder on import — no Relink dialog. Preflight clearly lists which files are offline.
- ReaSurroundPan tracks no longer lose 3 dB on the Pro Tools side. The converter applies a per-track 0 dB pan law override on tracks carrying ReaSurroundPan, so the plugin's panning isn't double-attenuated by the project pan law.
- Large sessions no longer crash on memory exhaustion.
- Preflight no longer freezes the interface on heavy sessions. Analysis runs in the background; the window stays responsive.
- Stereo .L/.R file pairs are no longer misclassified as split-mono.
v1.6.1 Bug Fix
May 23, 2026 · Download DMG
- Pro Tools → Reaper: fixed wrong clip sync position when Pro Tools regions share a name (full-file + trimmed-clip derivative). Clips now play from the correct offset instead of the start of the source file.
- Pro Tools → Reaper: fixed Side-percent automation leaking into Reaper divergence on 7.1.2 buses. Size and Divergence knobs now use their correct per-slot transforms.

New features
- Output mode tabs. Two clearly labelled modes: Link to source keeps the project as a thin reference to your originals, Copy Media (Standalone) produces a self-contained bundle with audio (and optionally video) copied inside. A "Save in same folder as source" checkbox in Link mode lets you drop a file and convert it next to the original with one click. Session / bundle name auto-fills from the source on every drop.
- Preferences popover. A gear icon in the top-right corner sets the audio + video folder names once — per direction (Pro Tools side typically
Audio Files+Video Files, Reaper side typicallyMedia). Settings shared between the standalone app and the Reaper extension automatically. - Full UI parity in the Reaper extension. The Reaper-side Import dialog now matches the standalone app visually — same Input block with full session info, same Preflight subsections with status icons, same Output mode tabs, same Track Data filter.
- Native Relink dialog inside the Reaper extension. Per-file candidate search, Match-by-Name / File-ID / Duration filters, multi-folder search areas — the extension shells out to the converter app for the exact same Relink UX as standalone.
- Preflight redesign. Two subsections always render: Automatic conversions (split-mono merges, sample-rate resamples, FLAC / MP3 / OGG transcodes) and Compatibility warnings. Each category shows file count + total size, with a green check-mark when clean.
- Per-category preflight popovers. Click any category to see the file list — names, channel counts, formats, source sizes and total processed size.
- Reaper item Channel Mode (CHANMODE) read on RPP → PTX. Items set to Mono Left, Mono channel N, Stereo 1/2 or any Stereo N/N+1 pair now map to Pro Tools' per-clip channel index. No more silent dropping of the channel selection.
- Fade-shape preservation in both directions. Linear, concave, convex and S-curve fades, fade-ins, fade-outs and crossfades carry their audible curvature across the conversion. Earlier builds shipped a generic equal-gain shape regardless of source.
- Reveal-in-Finder. After a successful conversion, the Convert button transforms into "Reveal in Finder".
- Report-a-Bug link. Top-left of both the standalone window and the Reaper extension dialog — opens a prefilled email with diagnostic info.
Surround pan fixes
- Stereo tracks routed through a surround panner (5.1 / 7.1 / 7.1.2) no longer arrive in Reaper with the ReaSurroundPan X puck stuck at center. Both source channels reach the plugin as independent L and R; no per-track Reset click needed.
- Pro Tools' Size knob (7.1.2 only) now converts correctly to Reaper's per-channel Divergence — both mono input and stereo input (independent L / R Size).
- Right-channel Divergence is preserved when Pro Tools authored it independently from the left channel.
- Right-channel Y, divergence and LFE pan slots now map to the matching Reaper parameters (
in_2_Y,in_2_divergence,in_2_LFE) instead of dropping to defaults.
Conversion correctness
- Video clips now reliably reach the Reaper RPP from the standalone GUI (previously dropped silently on second-and-later conversions).
- Mono Pro Tools tracks routed to a wider surround bus now have
MAINSEND_NCHupgraded to the bus width — every channel of the up-mixed signal reaches the parent. - Aux tracks that up-mix their input get the same
MAINSEND_NCHboost. - Read-only output folders are caught before conversion starts, instead of failing late inside afconvert.
- The Reaper extension's red close-button no longer freezes the Reaper UI.
- Pre-built RPP files now analyse on a background thread — no UI hitches on large projects.
RPP → PTX
- Reaper item CHANMODE values flow end-to-end: track-format detection, clip wrapping and split-routing all respect them.
- Custom clip names + clip-gain are preserved when the item spans the full source file (previously overwritten with source-file defaults).
- Fade envelopes are clamped to the CHANMODE-narrowed channel count.
- Three previously-silent clip drops on the resample / transcode path no longer happen.
UX polish
- Larger drop zone before an input is selected.
- Output panel hidden until a file is dropped — cleaner first-launch state.
- Volume Automation picker removed — always Direct (1:1). Raise Reaper's fader range in Project Settings if a session exceeds +12 dB.
- Per-file split lists expose the "Folder with clips" auto-split as its own row in the preflight popover.
- User guide gained a "Save Copy In" workflow tip and was translated to Russian.
- User guide gained a "bounce before convert" tip for Reaper-item features the converter can't preserve.
Known limitation
- Session timeline-start timecode is not yet honoured on either side; clips land at whatever raw position the source records. On the wishlist for a future release.
v1.5.6 Bug Fix
May 21, 2026 · Download DMG
- Reaper → Pro Tools: clip gain now survives correctly when several items on the same track share a clip name.
v1.5.5 Bug Fix
May 17, 2026 · Download DMG
- Fade curve shape now survives the round-trip in both directions. Concave, linear and convex slopes for fade-ins, fade-outs and crossfades open in the other DAW exactly as you set them — no more flattening to a generic equal-gain curve.
- Track Data popover: the "Main Pan Automation" toggle no longer says "(up to 5.1)". The 7.1 and 7.1.2 panners shipped in 1.5.2 already converted their automation correctly; the label was just out of date.
v1.5.4 New
May 16, 2026 · Download DMG
- Wider surround formats supported bidirectionally: 7.1 and 7.1.2 (Control Room widen, sub-path routing, Side / Size / heights)
- Static surround pan slider positions now convert from Reaper to Pro Tools (previously only automation lanes converted)
- LFE handling simplified: first channel only, no stereo compensation, in both directions
- Source audio files are never modified by the converter, regardless of output folder location
- Video Link mode: Pro Tools now references video files at their original absolute path, including external drives — no more zero-byte Video Files folder next to the output. Copy mode unchanged
- Non-fast-start MP4 files (moov atom at end of file) now convert correctly — previously the video clip was silently dropped
v1.5.1 Bug Fix
May 7, 2026 · Download DMG
- Reaper → Pro Tools: fixed app freeze when converting projects with a video track. On systems with limited free disk space or RAM, the app could appear to hang for minutes after clicking Convert. The video probe now reads only what it needs from the source file instead of loading the full video into memory.
